March 13, 2026 - Community Statement from Tourism Kimberley

Tourism Kimberley is sharing an important update about the future of our operations and our continued commitment to promoting Kimberley as a vibrant, welcoming destination.

Over the past several years, the way visitors plan their travel has changed significantly, with most people now relying on online tools, mobile resources, and digital trip‑planning services. As these trends have evolved, so has our organization. In order to focus more fully on our core mission, promoting Kimberley to new audiences and attracting more visitors to our community, we will be transitioning out of the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) located within the main Platzl parking lot on Ross Street and ceasing traditional in‑person VIC services effective April 30, 2026.

This decision allows Tourism Kimberley to strengthen the work that has the greatest impact on our local tourism economy: external marketing, destination storytelling, and showcasing the experiences that make Kimberley truly special. We are excited to increase our efforts in these areas so we can continue bringing new visitors and new energy to our community throughout the year.

The Visitor Information Centre building is owned by the Kimberley & District Chamber of Commerce, who will now be assessing future options for the space in consultation with the City of Kimberley, which owns the land. We appreciate their collaboration and support throughout this transition.

Although Tourism Kimberley’s involvement in in‑person VIC services is ending, access to visitor information is not. Travelers today expect information at their fingertips, and we will continue to develop online resources, digital trip‑planning tools, and community information that ensures visitors can easily find the support they need while exploring Kimberley.

We are grateful to our community, partners, and visitors for their ongoing support. Tourism Kimberley remains committed to championing our city, growing our visitor economy, and helping ensure Kimberley continues to thrive. The public washrooms at 270 Kimberley Ave will continue to operate.
